Dear Sarah Silverman.
Dear Bernie Sanders.
Dear Al Franken.
Dear Hillary Clinton.
Dear Mr. President.
I know you would admonish all of us to ‘throw in the towel’ and get behind our candidate as a means to coalesce.
We can’t.
You see when a certain man came up with certain ideas that we knew would wrest our nation from the increasing grips of the oligarchy – we finally had hope.
We finally thought “Yes! We can take on the corporate machine and bring our government back to a democracy!”
But then….
Problems happened with voting during the primaries.
News outlets blatantly ignored the man and touted a woman instead who is quite chummy with the oligarchy.
Recently leaked emails demonstrate that democracy was thrown out by the very party that bears the name.
And you want us to support this? Here’s how we feel: we do ourselves no socio-political favor by electing a girl whose actions show clearly that the role model she provides to us women is one of sticking- by- a- cheating- husband- no-matter -what -cause- I’ve- got- a-presidency- in- mind, or fearfully refusing to meet with the press, or accepting money from Wall Street while speaking out of the other side of her mouth to an ever shrinking middle class.
How are we better off supporting someone who rigged the nomination and whose candidacy looks like Cinderella’s glass slipper forced onto one of the ugly stepsister’s feet after a few toes have been cut off. Sure it fits now, but it’s repulsive and the violent act of ensuring the fit has left the crowd traumatized and shocked.
You all are going to have to come up with some better reasons to vote for this candidate than ‘party unity’ or ‘growing up’. Because we put our hope in an idea, not a person, that our nation is a democracy – and the person you would have us vote for has shown herself to be wholly part of the oligarchy.
So keep talkin’ Sarah, and Al, and Bernie, and Hillary – if you wanted the White House, you should have put up the candidate best able to defeat our rival and ensure our nation’s democracy.
Yours,
Frankie
